Restaurants in Barcelona

At the heart of Catalonia, the city’s multi-cultural makeup is best sampled in the restaurants in Barcelona. Traditional Catalan cuisine is a delicious Mediterranean mixture of French and Spanish cooking styles, featuring generous helpings of garlic, olive oil and fish that are often accompanied by tapas or pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomato, olive oil and salt).
It is surprisingly cheap to eat out in Barcelona - a decent meal in one of the cafes and restaurants in its winding back streets can often be cheaper than cooking for oneself. Barcelona’s restaurants include everything from Spanish-style tapas bars, ethnic hole-in-the-wall eateries and upmarket Catalan foodie spots, to Michelin-starred restaurants offering the best in Spanish and international cuisine.
It's customary for diners in Barcelona to make lunch and dinner reservations, with restaurants usually opening for lunch from 1pm or 2 pm until 4 pm, and again for dinner from around 8pm. The earlier a person arrives, the easier it is to get a last-minute reservation, or a table without a reservation.
