Weather in Fiji

Fiji experiences a tropical marine climate, with warm weather all year round. The warm season is from November to April which experiences heavier rainfall. The cooler season is from May to October with temperatures averaging 72°F (22°C).

Fiji is subject to cyclones, particularly between the months of November through to April. Expats living in Fiji will most certainly need to get used to the risk of cyclones and the degree of nonchalance with which the country seems to accept this severe weather pattern.

On average about three cyclones or tropical depressions get close enough to Fiji each season to attract the interest of the weather bureau, at which point their direction and intensity are tracked. In the event of one of these tumultuous weather phenomena, the two roads connecting Suva and Nadi can be easily cut by flooding, and the two cities can easily be isolated.
